These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Cortex. By creating an account or using the product, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Usage Policy.
Using Cortex
Cortex is an AI-powered research and writing product that allows you to create accounts, hold conversations, upload documents, export content, and use related features made available through the service.
Accounts
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep it reasonably up to date.
- You may not share your account in ways that create security, abuse, or policy risks for the service.
Acceptable Use
You may use Cortex only in accordance with these Terms and the Usage Policy. That includes using the product for lawful purposes and avoiding abuse, harmful content, security violations, or deceptive behavior.
User Content
You retain responsibility for the prompts, files, and other content you submit to Cortex. You represent that you have the rights needed to upload or process that content through the service.
You grant Cortex a limited right to host, process, transmit, and format your content as needed to operate the product, generate outputs, secure the platform, and provide requested features such as sharing and export.
AI Output and Accuracy
Cortex uses AI models to generate responses. Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or outdated. You are responsible for reviewing and validating results before relying on them for academic, professional, legal, medical, financial, or other high-stakes purposes.
Shared Sessions
If you create a shared session link, anyone with that link may be able to view the shared conversation. You should not enable sharing for material you do not want exposed through a link.
Availability and Changes
Cortex may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. The service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, bugs, provider issues, abuse prevention, or infrastructure limitations.
Suspension and Termination
Cortex may limit or suspend access if necessary to enforce the rules, address abuse, protect users, comply with legal obligations, or preserve system reliability. You may stop using the service at any time and may delete your account from within the product.
Open Source Code
The Cortex codebase may be available separately under its repository license. Those open-source license terms apply to the code repository itself, while these Terms apply to use of the hosted service and website.
Disclaimers
Cortex is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by applicable law. Cortex does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, complete accuracy, or fitness for every particular use case.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Cortex will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from or related to your use of the service.
Changes to These Terms
Cortex may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after updated Terms are posted means you accept the revised Terms.
